For trades that require a state license, we verify it with Virginia DPOR. Where a licence applies, we confirm it is current and matches the work before any referral goes out.

What We Verify, and What We Do Not
Most referral sites are vague about this. Being specific is more useful to you, even where it is less flattering to us.
What we check. For trades that require a state licence, we verify it through the Virginia Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation before a contractor joins the network. We confirm insurance. We only work with contractors based in the Lynchburg area, and we work with them repeatedly rather than pulling a name from a national database.
What we do not claim. Not every trade in Virginia requires a state licence, and we do not pretend otherwise. A handyman doing work under the licensing threshold is not required to hold one, and saying that every contractor in any network is licensed would be false. What we tell you is which credentials a given contractor actually holds, for the work they actually do.
You still hold the contract. We introduce you. You hire whoever you choose, sign directly with them, and pay them directly. Blue Ridge Home Pro is not a party to that contract, which means the questions on our service pages about written quotes, licence classes and insurance certificates still matter. Ask them. A contractor who came through us should welcome the same scrutiny as one who did not.
Verify us too. Virginia ties the contractor licence to the value of the job, so the class on the licence matters as much as its existence. Class C covers a single project over $1,000 and under $30,000, Class B covers $30,000 to under $150,000, and Class A covers $150,000 or more. Compare that against the number at the bottom of your quote, and look the licence up yourself through DPOR.
